Heavy music for the softest people.
Born out of femme rage and extensive exposure to Black Sabbath, Lillian’s solo project is a culmination of deep guitar riffage and soul-searching lyrics guaranteed to make you ponder an orb or two. Those who cry often will find themselves in good company here.
Growing up in spaces where girls were expected to be meek, subservient, and soft-spoken, Jack Lillian has always been anything but. Now, she is reclaiming all the bad labels stuck on her and artfully repurposing their elements into a potent sonic tincture of "fearlessness and creativity" (grrrlmusic).
With roots in riot grrrl and nu-metal from her wildly successful former project Zippermouth, she has been regarded as "empowering and empathetic" (MusicShelf). While she tends to lean towards the darker elements of any genre, she loves to juxtapose lush chord-driven tunes with heavy Cantrellian riffs, glueing it all together with searing, seismic vocals. This is the recipe for her self-proclaimed “psychedelic grunge” - a poetic love story to the self, and commitment to authenticity of soul.
